Help students brainstorm and outline their rights and responsibilities towards each other within the classroom, emphasize the attributes of fairness, trustworthiness and honesty.

Peace and conflict management

  • Define the term peace

Activity 1:

The student will locate the seven continents and five oceans on the globe. Students will draw a map from their home to school, identifying various landmarks, depicting their observation and sense of direction.

Activity 2:

With the help of a torch as the sun and the globe as planet Earth, students will perform an activity to understand the concept of rotation of the earth and formation of day and night.


Activity 3: Refresh the environment by

planting more trees (each one plant one). Research the top ten air cleaning houseplants and find out if you can grow any of them in your classroom/house e.g. Palms, English Ivy, and Money Plant.

Natural disasters and safety measures

  • Explain how common natural disasters occur (Floods, Earthquakes, Cyclones, Avalanches).
  • Identify safety measures that can be taken in case of natural disasters, specifically in the case of Earthquake (before, during and after).



  • Define the terms Population and  Census.
  • Explain the importance of Census.
  • Describe the distribution of population in the region and give a map of the region/province.
  • Enlist the major problems caused by over population.
  • Identify the importance and interconnectedness of Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

Activity 5:

With your parents create a plan that will protect your family in the event of a natural disaster like earthquake/flood.

The plan should include steps to take Before, During and After a disaster.


Present your disaster plan in the form of an oral report or diagram to your class.


For example, Students can develop a chart for Earthquake safety and share it with their family.

Activity 6:

Collect the telephone numbers of emergency services in the area (police, fire brigade, ambulance) and display them on a chart.



Activity 7:

Practice Earthquake drills and Practice mock fire drill.


Activity 8:

With the help of the teacher, manage how wasted food can be distributed among the needy.



Activity 9:

Use of three R's (reduce, recycle and re-use) and think of ways to minimize use of plastic bags, bottles and products.
